“We arrived at the Bridgeclimb office in plenty of time for the informational video and introduction. After signing consent forms and taking a breathalyzer test (yes, they test to see if you have been drinking alcohol!), we were fitted with our climb suits. The light, full body suits went over our clothing, but first we had to empty everything out of our pockets and remove all jewelry. After we put on our suits, we were fitted with a harness, and supplied with gloves, fleece and rain jackets, and a radio headset, from which we could listen to the guides instructions and explanations. The fantastic staff had only one thing in mind throughout the entire experience – our safety and enjoyment.
Once in the harness, we hooked onto a static line and practiced walking up and down the ladders and walkways. Only when we were comfortable with the equipment were we brought out onto the bridge. Our climb on the exterior of the Harbour Bridge was one of the most exhilarating experiences of our lives! Our enthusiastic guide made us feel very comfortable and was very knowledgeable of the history of the bridge and the city.
Once we reached the top of the bridge, we gathered together for a complimentary group photo, with the Sydney Opera House as the backdrop. The Sydney Harbour Bridgeclimb is one of the most popular activities in the city – and rightfully so!”
