6 Tips for Making the Most of an All-Inclusive Vacation

Tips for Traveling to All Inclusive Resorts

When you think of an all-inclusive resort or vacation your first thought might be of a large resort filled with hundreds of people, crowded pools and buffet dining - but for most All-Inclusive Resorts this is no longer the case.

In fact, the number of 4 and 5 star all-inclusive resorts is steadily on the rise - many with a boutique look and feel - making them a solid option for your next vacation. With all food, beverages, activities and transfers often included these resorts can also be a great bang for your buck, especially if you make the most of all they have to offer.

In order for you to do so we've put together our top tips for making the most of your stay at an all-inclusive resort.

#1 Make the Most of All the Dining Experiences

Most all-inclusive resorts include all meals which means you can dine at any of the restaurants, enjoy food delivered on the beach or by the pool, a boxed lunch to take on excursions and even unlimited room service. Typically the only food that is not included is any sort of dine out or special event food (like a wedding). The tip for making the most of the dining is not necessarily eating all day everyday, but instead making the most of foods that you might not otherwise order or try and making the most of things like room service which you may shy away from due to the increased cost.

We also suggest planning ahead, take a look at the restaurant and dining options before you arrive so that you can plan which you would like to try for certain meals and make advance reservations, especially for dinners or if you are traveling with a large group.

#2 Plan Your Itinerary Ahead

With so many activities and things to do it's important to plan in advance so that you can make the most of all the resort has to offer. We suggest reviewing the activities that are included at the property and identifying which are of interest to you then review the availability of the things that you are interested in - keeping in mind that not all activities are offered on all days or times. So, by planning ahead you can make sure to enjoy all of the things you are most interested in whether that be kayaking through turquiose waters, improving your balance with SUP Yoga, exploring underwater wildlife with your snorkel and fins or taking in some nightly entertainment. At an all-inclusive resort you don't have to limit yourself so take control and make the most of every minute!

#3 Enjoy that Top Shelf Beverage

At all-inclusive resorts you can not only enjoy any food but all beverages as well, and this often means both alcoholic and non! Now, we admit, it might feel odd ordering a top shelf cocktail and paying absolutely nothing...but we assure you that you will get used to it. Same thing goes for specialty drinks like smoothies, milkshakes and fresh squeezed local juices - all of which usually costing you an arm and a leg. So go ahead - enjoy that extra cocktail, afternoon pick me up smoothie or blended coffee or even a bottle of champagne on the beach!

#4 Treat Yourself

With all that you are saving on your food, beverages and activities why not indulge in a treatment at the spa, an extra little something at the gift shop, an off-site excursion or maybe even a room upgrade. Check with the on-site concierge or guest services department for special promotions or discounts that you might be able to secure for booking add ons early or upon arrival for even more savings.

#5 Take Advantage of Kids Camp or Babysitting Services

If you are traveling with the kiddos make sure to choose an all-inclusive resort that offers kids camp and/or babysitting services, we can not begin to tell you how much you will enjoy this. During the day you will be able to drop the kids off to enjoy kid friendly activities while you enjoy some alone time relaxing at the pool or beach. These activities are often a mix of arts & crafts, cultural activities and games giving your kids a well rounded day of fun. In the evenings you can even enjoy a dinner out while your kids enjoy room service and a movie with in-room babysitting services.

#6 Utilize the Concierge

With everything available at your fingertips, and most being included in your accommodation rate, you may feel overwhelmed or at a loss of where to begin. So to avoid having a case of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) we suggest making the most of the Concierge services. Before you arrive, or upon arrival, meet with the Concierge and tell them what you are interested in and ask them for their recommendations on "must see or do" activities so that you don't miss anything.
